Marble Universe series, 2023
The forms play on Marvel’s Universe and the intensity of cult followings, elevating fictional icons to the status of marble sculpture. Framed through the visual language of museums, collections, and master-made artifacts, the work blurs the line between popular myth and high art. It asks how contemporary culture manufactures its own pantheon, and how characters beloved by millions can assume the aura of timeless cultural monuments.
At the center of the series is the idea that reverence is not limited to the ancient or the canonical. By bringing together marble, spectacle, and pop-cultural imagery, the work suggests that our era produces new forms of monumentality through repetition, devotion, and visual saturation. In this sense, the series treats cultural icons as both fragile and enduring: images that are constantly remade, yet still carry the weight of collective belief.
