GROTEQUE SUNDAE series, 2023

Grotesque Sundae, as a series, plays with historical ornamentation and contemporary visual excess. Familiar vessel-like forms are transformed by streams of dripping color, suggesting both collapse and regeneration. The work draws on the tension between control and accident, where polished surfaces give way to fluid gesture and material instability.

At the center of the series is an interest in transformation as an aesthetic principle. The drips, pours, and overlays function as visible traces of becoming, in which the object is never fixed but always in process. By combining references to decorative art, digital rendering, and painterly spill, the work asks how value, beauty, and material presence can be reimagined through excess.
